Caught in a Rainstorm

My leisurely walk through Lake Johnson was interrupted by a rain storm.  While I was slightly disappointed that I became completely soaked, I'm sure Lake Johnson was more than slightly thrilled considering the approximately month long drought in Raleigh.  My question is: where did all this water come from?  Where was it hiding for the past month?
